Motorcycle thief arrested in West Jakarta after three thefts
Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect had operated at least three different crime scenes in close succession. JAKARTA (ANTARA) - Police have arrested a motorcycle thief identified as AG (46), suspected of carrying out thefts at three locations in West Jakarta. ‘Preliminary investigations showed the suspect operated at least three different crime scenes in close succession,’ said Kanit Reskrim Polsek Grogol Petamburan AKP Alexander Tengbunan to reporters in Jakarta on Thursday evening. Alex explained the arrest began when the narcotics operations team, conducting patrols in the Kapuk Kamal Raya area of Cengkareng, West Jakarta, noticed AG’s suspicious behaviour on Monday (25/5) at around 3pm while riding a motorcycle from the Kampung Ambon complex. ‘Officers detained him and conducted a body and clothing search, finding a T-shaped key and its corresponding key as evidence,’ he said. Based on preliminary checks, the suspect was moving between areas in West Jakarta to find targets. ‘AG and the evidence, including the T-key and the motorcycle, are now held at the police station,’ Alex added. Police are continuing their investigation to identify fences and possible additional victims or crime scenes linked to the suspect’s serial crimes. AG faces charges under Article 477 of the Criminal Code for aggravated theft, carrying a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
