Motorcycle Thief Apprehended Outside Trisakti University as Mob Attacks Suspect

“We were assisted by residents in apprehending the motorcycle theft suspect who attempted to steal a motorcycle in front of Trisakti University,” said AKP Arif Rahman Hakim, Traffic Unit Head of Grogol Petamburan Police Station, on Tuesday (26 May 2026). The incident occurred at Gate 1 of Trisakti University’s campus in Grogol on Monday (25 May) morning. Another suspect in the motorcycle theft is believed to have fled.

“The perpetrators were two individuals; one escaped on a Vario motorcycle, while the other was detained by us and residents,” he added. Videos of the mob attacking the suspect have circulated widely on social media, with local residents visibly enraged and expressing their anger towards the apprehended individual.

He stated the motorcycle belonged to a student attending classes. The suspect was caught in the act of trying to steal the victim’s motorcycle outside the campus. “Initially, he approached the motorcycle and attempted to break the lock for theft. The motorcycle belonged to a Trisakti student, who was inside attending lectures,” he explained. During a search, T-shaped and duplicate keys were found on the suspect, who was then taken to Grogol Petamburan Police Station (Gropet) for further legal proceedings.
