Motorcycle Theft Suspect in Kampung Bandan, North Jakarta Threatens Resident with Firearm

Motorcycle theft with firearm occurred on Lodan Raya Street in Kampung Bandan, Pademangan, North Jakarta on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

AKP Muhaiyin Ikhsan, the Reskrim Unit Chief of Pademangan Police Station, stated that police are still investigating the incident, including the whereabouts of the suspect.

“We are currently conducting an investigation into this case,” he said in a text message to Kompas.com on Monday, 25 May 2026.

A video recording the armed motorcycle theft was uploaded by the Instagram account @jakut.info.

In the footage, a suspect wearing a black jacket attempts to forcibly open the motorcycle using a tool in his hand.

Within less than 15 seconds, the suspect starts the motorcycle and moves it out of the narrow alley.

As he tried to remove the motorcycle, a resident approached him.

Immediately, the suspect stood up from the motorcycle and pointed a firearm at the resident.

The resident fled immediately, and the suspect then continued to take the motorcycle out of the alley.

Several residents began chasing the suspect only after he had exited the alley with the stolen motorcycle.
