Serang Police Chief, AKBP Andri Kurniawan, said the theft occurred on 12 May 2026 at around 23:30 Western Indonesia Time in Kampung Rukem, Bandung District, Serang Regency. At the time, the victim had just finished watching entertainment at a local hajatan.

‘The victim’s motorcycle was missing. It had been parked near a resident’s house,’ Andri said on Thursday (21 May 2026).

The victim reported the incident to Serang Police. In follow-up, officers investigated and uncovered a motorcycle-theft gang that specialised in hajatan events.

Initially, police arrested a man named Saedi on Wednesday (14 May) around 21:00 WIB on the roadside in Jasinga District, Bogor Regency. Then police arrested Suherman on Thursday (14 May) at his home in Mekarjaya Village, Cigudeg District, Bogor Regency.

‘The two are perpetrators of malicious assistance or fences of stolen goods,’ Andri said.

The two suspects admitted receiving the stolen vehicle from a man named Jimi alias Kiming. Police then arrested Jimi alias Kiming when he was about to act in Serang city together with his girlfriend, Dian.

‘The culprits were secured at a hajatan in Nyapah Village, Walantaka Sub-district, Serang City, along with his girlfriend who participated in the theft,’ he said.

According to Andri, the suspects are repeat offenders in motorcycle theft in the Banten region. In the last three months, they have acted at 15 locations.

‘The suspects have committed theft at 15 crime scenes in Banten Province and often acted at hajatan or entertainment venues,’ he said.

The suspects face charges under Article 477 of the KUHP on aggravated theft. Police also confiscated five motorcycles, four mobile phones, and one set of T-wrenches.
