Motorcycle stolen from Pondok Cina Station after ignition key left; suspect arrested at SPPG
A man with initials NS was arrested by police after stealing a motorcycle from the parking area at Pondok Cina Station, Beji, Depok, West Java. Investigators say the theft occurred on Friday 14 May, when the victim accidentally left the ignition key in the motorbike. ‘While the victim left the key in the motorcycle’s ignition under the seat, the perpetrator took the vehicle,’ said AKP Made Budi, the public relations head at the Depok Metro Police, on Tuesday 19 May 2026.” The victim had arrived at Pondok Cina Station to travel to Manggarai by light rail transit (KRL) at 13:46 WIB. He returned to Pondok Cina around 15:30 WIB and found his motorbike missing from the parking area. After querying the parking attendants, it was learned that a red-and-white Honda Beat with registration number B-4473-SIP had left the scene, as captured by CCTV. ‘The complainant checked with the parking attendants and found that the vehicle had left the parking area around 15:17 WIB,’ he said. On the same day, a Resmob Depok police investigation team led by the Sub-Head of Opsnal Resmob Ipda Agwit investigated the motor vehicle theft at Pondok Cina to identify the suspect around 21:00 WIB. A few hours later, the suspect was arrested. ‘After the suspect was identified, on 15 May 2026 around 01:00 WIB the suspect was secured at his workplace at SPPG Harjamukti 2 Jalan Sumur Bandung, Harjamukti, Cimanggis, Depok,’ he said. The suspect admitted to stealing using a Honda Vario with registration B-4995-EEK owned by a friend. The victim’s motorcycle was hidden in an apartment on Jalan Margonda Raya, Cimanggis, Depok. The suspect and the stolen motorcycle were taken to Depok Police for further legal proceedings. Police also seized a white helmet, as well as clothing and shoes used by the suspect. For the offence of aggravated theft (curat) the offender is charged under Article 477 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Indonesian Penal Code.
