Motorcycle Stolen from Matraman Community Health Centre
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Criminal Investigation Unit of Matraman Police Station is investigating a motorcycle theft that occurred at the Matraman Community Health Centre (Puskesmas) building in East Jakarta on Wednesday (18 February).
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Matraman Police Station, Inspector Hadir Wibowo, said the victim had reported the incident to the police shortly after it occurred.
"The victim filed a police report yesterday at the police station. We are gradually taking statements from witnesses," he said.
The police report now serves as the basis for investigators to carry out a series of investigative procedures.
Hadir explained that his team had examined a number of witnesses who were in the vicinity of the crime scene in order to gather additional information.
In addition, police are attempting to identify the perpetrator through CCTV footage from cameras installed around the health centre area.
However, the identification process has encountered difficulties. Based on the footage obtained, the suspect was seen wearing a cap, making facial recognition challenging.
"We are still making efforts to identify the perpetrator through facial recognition, but it is proving somewhat difficult because he was wearing a cap. We are continuing our investigation," he said.
Police are currently exploring various possibilities, including tracing the vehicle used by the perpetrator and mapping out the timeline of the incident in detail.
The incident went viral on the Instagram social media account @jabodetabek24info. The footage shows a lone perpetrator making off with a motorcycle.
Initially, the suspect, wearing a red shirt and black cap, arrived at the scene. He then appeared to inspect several motorcycles parked in the area.
The perpetrator subsequently pushed away a motorcycle whose steering lock had not been engaged, before riding it out of the building.
