Motorcycle Sales Plummet in March 2026 After Brief Uptick
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Domestic motorcycle sales in March 2026 experienced a sharp decline after showing a positive trend in the previous month. According to data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), last month’s sales reached only 448,974 units, dropping around 23 percent compared to February. This decline is quite contrasting when viewed against the performance of the two preceding months. In January 2026, sales were recorded at 577,763 units, then increased to 587,354 units in February. One factor strongly suspected to be the cause of the sales drop is the Lebaran holiday period. During that time, many motorcycle dealerships did not operate at full capacity, directly impacting the distribution of two-wheeled vehicles to consumers. This figure is still lower than the same period last year, which reached 1,683,262 units. This means that the two-wheeler market performance at the start of this year has not fully recovered compared to the previous year. Sales projections remain set at around 6.4 million to 6.7 million units, the same as the targets and achievements in 2025. - January: 577,763 units - February: 587,354 units - March: 448,974 units
