Motorcycle Robber Beaten by Mob After Stealing Student's Motorcycle in Bogor
A 44-year-old man identified as J was arrested after stealing a motorcycle and injuring a student couple in Desa Singa Bangsa, Tenjo, Bogor Regency. The suspect was brutally beaten by a mob before being taken into custody.
A video of J being apprehended by residents went viral on social media. In footage viewed by detikcom, a man was surrounded by a crowd in front of a shop, described as the perpetrator who had stolen a rider’s motorcycle. His face was visibly battered from the mob attack.
“Yes, the suspect and evidence have been secured at Tenjo Police Station. The victim has filed a report, and the case is now under investigation,” said Tenjo Police Station Chief Inspector Hendrik Hartono on Thursday, 28 May 2026.
Hendrik stated that the incident occurred around 1:30 AM on Thursday, 28 May, when the victim, a male student identified as NO (18), was riding a motorcycle with a female passenger. The suspects cornered them and forcibly removed the ignition key.
“The victim was cornered and had their ignition key pulled out, then ambushed by two suspects. The victim resisted when the motorcycle was stolen. The suspects are believed to be two in number,” Hendrik said.
“The rider is a 18-year-old male student, with a female passenger. The victim sustained minor leg abrasions from falling off the motorcycle, with no serious injuries,” he added.
Of the two suspects, one identified as J was apprehended by residents along with the motorcycle used in the crime. The other suspect, identified as N, managed to escape with the victim’s motorcycle.
“We are still pursuing the second suspect, who has been listed as a wanted person (DPO),” Hendrik said.
