Motorcycle Gang Convoy Brandishing Sharp Weapons Alarms Cimahi Residents

A video showing a group of motorcyclists roaming around and alarming residents of Cimahi City, West Java, has gone viral on social media. The group was brandishing sharp weapons, causing unease among the public, particularly road users.

The incident is known to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday (19/7/2026). The group was caught on camera by a resident while passing through the Soekarno Underpass on Jalan Sriwijaya. The exact motive and purpose of the teenagers riding around with sharp weapons remains unclear.

The incident has been widely linked to a recent surge in street robberies in the city of Bandung. Additionally, there have been several clashes between motorcycle gangs in the Cimahi City area, including one in the Cibeureum sub-district of South Cimahi a few days prior.

The social media post immediately drew a variety of reactions. Some residents expressed anxiety and fear, stating they were now afraid to go out at night due to the prevalence of street crime, while many others urged the police and government to act swiftly to arrest the perpetrators.

"Regarding the viral information on social media about a group of motorcyclists carrying sharp weapons at the Sriwijaya Underpass, we have followed it up. It is currently under investigation," said Cimahi Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Gofur Supangkat, when confirmed on Monday (20/7/2026).
