Over a dozen motorcyclists from the ‘Youth Night Style’ community have been detained by police after a video of them destroying barriers and breaching the Casablanca Non-Toll Flyover (JLNT) in South Jakarta went viral. They admitted the offence was committed to create social media content.

“The motive was content creation,” said AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, speaking to reporters on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

Ojo stated that the motorcyclists who participated in the convoy were not a motorcycle gang but rather members of a community called ‘Youth Night Style’ whose hobby is socialising.

“They’re a community — a community that enjoys making content, whose hobby is hanging out together. They’re not a gang; they’re a community called Youth Night Style,” Ojo said.

Police are continuing to search for additional motorcyclists who took part in the convoy, with the estimated number exceeding 20 motorcycles.

“We are reviewing the circulating video footage. From the video, we can determine how many motorcycles were involved — approximately 20,” Ojo explained.

The 11 motorcyclists who have been apprehended were arrested across different areas, including Jatinegara in East Jakarta, Petamburan in Central Jakarta, and Jagakarsa in Jakarta.

“Together with 11 individuals we have detained from Jagakarsa, Petamburan, and Jatinegara, among other locations,” Ojo said in a statement on Monday (23/2).

Viral on Social Media

The actions of a group of motorcyclists allegedly damaging the barriers of the Casablanca Non-Toll Flyover in South Jakarta went viral on social media. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police are currently investigating the incident.

In posts circulating online, one motorcyclist could be seen burning the rope securing the JLNT Casablanca barrier. Once the barrier was opened, the group of motorcyclists streamed onto the flyover road.

“Time for people to shine,” read the caption on the video.

The motorcyclists were seen wearing black hoodies bearing the words ‘Youth Style’, ‘Confused’, and ‘Stressed’. Most of the group had also removed the number plates from their vehicles.

It was reported that their actions were carried out solely to create content. The group of motorcyclists rode in convoy along the road, with several of them visibly lacking number plates and not wearing helmets.

For context, motorcycles and two-wheeled vehicles are prohibited from using the Casablanca JLNT. The flyover is designated exclusively for four-wheeled vehicles or larger, with signage already in place to that effect.
