A number of black private vehicles were reported to have forced their way through the car free day (CFD) area on Sudirman-Thamrin on Sunday (23/8/2026). The CFD area is clearly prohibited for motorised vehicles, with the exception of Transjakarta buses.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he had received a report regarding the incident. He has also coordinated with the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) to investigate the action, which clearly violated traffic regulations.

“I would like to address the private vehicles that passed through the car free day, which should not have happened,” he said in the Tebet area of South Jakarta on Monday (24/8/2026).

He explained that the area used for the CFD had actually been closed off by officers. However, the barrier installed by officers was forcibly opened by the drivers of the vehicles.

“Previously, when the vehicles were about to enter, the area was already closed, and they were the ones who opened the barrier, even though the barrier was also guarded by Satpol PP and police officers,” he said.

After passing through the CFD area, on-duty Dishub officers immediately intercepted the motorcade. The vehicles were then directed to exit the CFD area in the SCBD vicinity.

Pramono said there were five vehicles that forced their way through the CFD area as a group. One of them was even using a strobe light.
