Motorbikes set on fire

Motorbikes set on fire

From Warta Kota

Now we are fiercely concerned about the bad conduct of several
Jakarta bad boys. Frankly, the situation occurring on the morning
of Dec. 10 at Jl. Kolonel Soegiono (extension of Jl. Casablanca),
Duren Sawit, Jakarta Timur, is a grave concern to many.

Unlawful motorbike racing on that road every Saturday night
starting from 10 p.m. has their habitual harmful pursuit. They
don't care whether other motorists are harassed or not.

Around 1 a.m. a group of bikers without lights and wearing no
helmets were traveling that road. Suddenly they stopped and
knocked over two ojek drivers for hindering their racing. The
ojek drivers had apologized and expressed vocally that they were
only ojek men who earned a living by giving rides on their
motorbikes for some fees to those needing their services. But the
bad boys didn't forgive them, they even knocked them out and set
fire to their motorbikes.

How tragic and sorrowful it was for them and their families.
That night they left their homes for the purpose of earning
money while their wives and children were patiently waiting for
them at home; it wasn't money that they got but wreckage
committed by those irresponsible bad boys.

This is the holy Ramadhan month, in which Muslim people are
striving to boost their virtue and goodness, but those bad boys
have created grievances. Let God forgive them.

I appeal to the competent authorities that they be disciplined
to prevent other victims.
