Motorbike thieves stab victim

JAKARTA (JP): Central Jakarta Police are looking for two men in connection with an armed robbery that left an ojek (motorcycle driver) injured on Thursday.

The victim, Syahrul, 17, told The Jakarta Post at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for stab wounds to his stomach and neck, that the robbery took place at around 10.20 a.m. near Yarsi Hospital on Jl. Suprapto in Cempaka Putih subdistrict.

"The two men stopped me suddenly, brandishing machetes. They asked me for the motorbike, but I put up a fight," Syahrul said.

He said that he fell after one of the men stabbed him.

Several people at the scene of the incident pursued the thieves, but they escaped on the Honda Astrea motorbike. (01)
