Motorbike Thief in Bogor Recaptured After Four Days on the Run from Police Station

MZ alias Ambon, a motorcycle thief in Pakansari, Bogor, West Java, has been recaptured after escaping from the Cibinong police station. The suspect deliberately fled the station to avoid legal proceedings. “It was just fear, because yesterday at the location he was subjected to mob justice. So that fear triggered him to run away. He just wanted to escape (from punishment). He (the suspect) does not have a wife yet, he is still young, in his twenties,” said Cibinong Police Chief Kompol Jony Handoko when contacted on Thursday (11/6/2026). Jony explained that MZ fled while he was being secured in the detention cell corridor of the Cibinong police station on Tuesday (2/6) evening. At the time of the incident, residents were still gathered at the police station waiting for the victim to complete the report. “At that time, he was in the cell corridor, not yet placed in the cell, because there was no complainant yet, no detention papers and so on. We cannot arbitrarily detain people; he was clearly a suspect and so on. So at that time, it was in the process of the victim preparing the report, so he (the suspect) was secured in the cell corridor,” Jony stated. At that moment, MZ had just been secured at the police station after being caught by residents for stealing a motorcycle. However, the suspect suddenly fled. “Actually, when the incident (the thief escaping) happened, there were still many residents in front of the police station, still gathered there, because they were also waiting for the complainant to complete the report, like CCTV footage and so on. Once it was complete, we checked and it turned out he (the suspect) had escaped,” he added. The suspect MZ managed to escape by damaging the padlock on the detention corridor door and fleeing by jumping over the back wall of the Cibinong police station office on Wednesday (3/6) at 00.44 WIB. The suspect was finally recaptured after four days on the run at his hiding place in Kalibata, South Jakarta, on Saturday (6/6). It was previously reported that a joint police team arrested the motorcycle thief in Pakansari, Bogor Regency, West Java. The man with the initials MZ alias Ambon had previously escaped after being caught. “Personnel from Cibinong Police Station along with a joint team from the Bogor Police Mobile Investigation Unit secured the perpetrator of the motorcycle theft,” according to a statement from Cibinong Police Station on Monday (8/6). MZ alias Ambon stole the motorcycle on Tuesday (2/6) evening. He was caught by residents of RT 04 RW 10, Pakansari Village, after being caught stealing a motorcycle in Kampung Pos RT 05 RW 10, Pakansari Village, Cibinong District, Bogor Regency. “The suspect managed to flee from the Cibinong Police Station on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, at around 00.44 WIB,” the statement said.
