Motor Vehicle Tax Levy Increase: Temanggung Regent Commits 20 Per Cent for Infrastructure
Temanggung — Temanggung Regent Agus Setyawan has announced that under the amended local regulation regarding regional taxes and user charges, a minimum allocation of 20 per cent from motor vehicle tax revenues will be earmarked for road infrastructure improvements. He expressed hope that this policy would accelerate road quality repairs across various areas in Temanggung Regency, thereby supporting the smooth functioning of community activities and regional economic growth.
“Since this regulation is binding, a minimum of 20 per cent of motor vehicle tax revenues will be allocated for road infrastructure improvement and rehabilitation,” he stated following a plenary session at the Temanggung District Parliament on Friday, 27 February 2026, which discussed the amendment to regional regulation number 12 of 2023 on regional taxes and user charges.
The regent expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Special Committee of the District Parliament for their thorough work in discussing the draft amendment to the regulation on regional taxes and user charges. He noted that the draft had been approved and would become an official regulation pending registration number issuance from the Central Java Governor before official publication.
According to the regent, this regulatory change is expected to provide greater benefits to the community, particularly in supporting infrastructure development in Temanggung Regency. “Hopefully, this regulation will truly be able to provide wider benefits to the community, especially in the infrastructure sector,” he said.
The regent stated that the local government is targeting full and optimal implementation of various provisions in the amended regulation by 2027, particularly those related to user charge collection and optimisation of regional tax and user charge revenues.
