Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Jakarta Regional Revenue Office (Bapenda), has introduced measures to ease compliance for motor vehicle tax obligations. Taxpayers can now settle Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Vehicle Transfer Tax (BBNKB) without late payment interest under an administrative penalty waiver policy.

The policy applies to taxpayers who pay or deposit overdue taxes between 1 June and 31 August 2026. During this period, individuals only need to pay the principal tax amount as stipulated.

The initiative is based on Decision No. e-0018 of 2026 issued by the Head of Jakarta Regional Revenue Office concerning the automatic administrative penalty waiver for PKB and BBNKB.

The waived penalties specifically cover interest on delayed tax payments. This allows taxpayers who previously delayed PKB or BBNKB payments to regularise their status without additional fines.

A key convenience is the automatic waiver process. Taxpayers do not need to submit special requests, formal applications, or additional administrative procedures to qualify for the waiver.

The penalty waiver will be applied automatically via the regional tax system when payments are made during the program period. This mechanism aims to simplify, expedite, and streamline the payment process for citizens.

This penalty waiver forms part of Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to improve regional tax service quality. Beyond easing the burden on taxpayers, the programme encourages residents to comply with vehicle tax obligations.

Furthermore, motor vehicle tax payments contribute to Jakarta’s development. Regional tax revenues fund public infrastructure projects and service improvements.

Bapenda Jakarta urges citizens to take advantage of the penalty waiver period for PKB and BBNKB, which runs until 31 August 2026.

By settling vehicle tax dues during this period, taxpayers can fulfil their obligations more easily while supporting Jakarta’s progress.

The Jakarta Provincial Government hopes this policy will encourage timely tax payments and better administrative compliance for motor vehicles. The simplified process reflects local government support for accessible and beneficial tax services.
