Mataram (ANTARA) - Ticket sales for the MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit, scheduled to take place from 9-11 October 2026, have reached 53 per cent for the general public and 91 per cent specifically for residents of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

“So, tickets have reached 53 per cent for the general public, and tickets for NTB ID card holders have reached 91 per cent,” said Troy Reza Warokka, Director of Operations at ITDC and Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia (MotoGP Mandalika), to journalists following a MotoGP Preparation Meeting in Mataram on Monday.

According to him, public enthusiasm for watching the MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit in 2026 is very high, particularly among NTB residents.

“After the first quota is exhausted, the next quota will be opened. Therefore, the enthusiasm is extraordinary. This means the public is responding positively,” he said.

To boost ticket sales, the organisers praised the steps taken by the NTB provincial government to conduct promotions in several regions across Indonesia. The organisers also intend to carry out similar promotional activities.

“The Governor requested meetings with neighbouring regions such as Bali, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and even East Kalimantan to coordinate with the Heads of Tourism Offices for promotional events. We will implement the same approach; if using tickets from related provinces, we will provide the same discounts as we do for NTB residents,” said Troy.

He noted that the economic impact of the MotoGP is significant in boosting both regional and national economies.

“In 2024, the figure was IDR 2.4 trillion; in 2025, it was IDR 4.9 trillion. This year, we hope the figure can reach IDR 5 trillion. Let us all hope for the best,” he added.

Troy expressed optimism regarding the high level of spectator interest evidenced by strong ticket sales. He noted that the increased demand for direct flights for this year’s MotoGP is capable of driving economic growth.

“What is interesting is that ticket purchases from abroad are also performing well. There have even been sales as far as Monaco,” he said.

Furthermore, Troy appreciated the local government’s support in ensuring the success of the 2026 MotoGP. This is demonstrated by promotional efforts directed towards governors across Indonesia to attend the event.

“This is a great breakthrough by the Governor of NTB, inviting governors across Indonesia not just as spectators, but to view the MotoGP as an economic driver. The support from the central government has also been incredibly significant,” he concluded.
