MotoGP Mandalika: 47 Additional Flights Prepared
The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Transportation Agency has confirmed that 47 additional flights have been requested by several airlines to ensure smooth mobility during the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit. These additional services are scheduled to operate from 8 to 12 October 2026.
Khaerus Sobri, Head of the Road Transport Division of the NTB Transportation Agency, explained that these dozens of extra flights will serve routes to Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (Bizam) in Central Lombok Regency. Preliminary data shows contributions from several major airlines.
“There are a total of 47 extra flights. This will be effective from 8 to 12 October,” Sobri stated when contacted from Mataram on Thursday (17/9).
Sobri added that this figure is still provisional as reports from other airlines are still being compiled. The services are designed to anticipate the surge in passengers from arrival to departure phases for both participants and spectators.
In addition to air travel, the NTB Transportation Agency is also increasing land transport capacity. For 2026, the number of shuttle bus units has been increased to 42, up from 35 units the previous year. The prepared seating capacity reaches 3,500 seats to accommodate spectator movement.
Shuttle bus departure points have also been expanded. Previously limited to Bizam and the former Selaparang Airport, points have now been added from Bangsal, Senggigi, and Lembar. A new breakthrough has also been implemented in the maritime transport sector.
“For the first time, Bangsal Port and Gili Trawangan will provide night crossings to accommodate guests staying in Trawangan,” Sobri explained.
On the other hand, the Director of Operations at ITDC and Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, Troy Reza Warokka, expressed immense enthusiasm from the public. To date, ticket sales for the general category have reached 53%, while special tickets for NTB ID card holders have reached 91 percent.
“Tickets for NTB ID holders are at 91%. This proves that the enthusiasm of the people of Bumi Gora is very high. After the first quota is exhausted, we will open the next quota,” said Troy.
Troy projects that the economic impact of this year’s MotoGP event could reach Rp5 trillion, an increase from the Rp4.9 trillion achieved in 2025 and Rp2.4 trillion in 2024. He is optimistic that the synergy between transport readiness and high spectator interest will serve as a driver for both regional and national economic growth.
