MotoGP Mandalika 2026: Telkomsel Deploys Its Leading and Widest Network
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Telkomsel says its broadband network and customer services are ready to support the MotoGP Mandalika 2026 event at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, from 9 to 11 October 2026. It has strengthened its network to provide communications and digital access for residents, tourists, participants and everyone involved in the international event.
Telkomsel has optimised its network at 30 points of interest expected to attract concentrations of visitors during the event. These include the circuit, airport and port access points, routes to Mandalika, hospitality areas and several recreational locations.
To support customer communications, Telkomsel has deployed 279 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) and 17 5G BTS across strategic locations. At the Mandalika circuit itself, it has added capacity through 27 4G BTS and nine 5G BTS. The 5G upgrades also use the new 2,600 MHz frequency band, which is intended to provide greater network capacity and improved broadband access amid the high density of users during the event.
Nugroho Adi Wibowo, vice-president of network operations for the Java-Bali area, said international races in Mandalika were an important moment that also helped drive tourism and the regional economy.
“Telkomsel is committed to providing the best connectivity by optimising its 4G and 5G networks, including the use of the 2,600 MHz frequency for 5G services, so that residents, tourists and everyone involved can stay connected and enjoy an optimal digital experience throughout the event,” he said in an official statement on Monday (12 October 2026).
Infrastructure has also been strengthened with the construction of seven new sites inside the Mandalika circuit. Telkomsel has also brought in two additional Compact Mobile Base Transceiver Station (COMBAT) units to boost network capacity during the event.
The improvements are designed to handle a surge in traffic, with service capacity for around 60,000 users during the event. Additional support will be available in several premium areas within the circuit.
Telkomsel has also bolstered its customer-service preparations, deploying staff at network command posts, the venue and several service locations.
The company has set up three customer-service booths at strategic points: Lombok International Airport, the Mandalika circuit’s Inner Circuit area and Mandalika Bazaar.
The booths are supported by 30 outlets to help customers access Telkomsel products and services, including registration for international customers, product availability and information about event-period promotions. Special offers include free daily calls to all operators via 88811# and a selection of Super Seru internet packages.
“As well as ensuring infrastructure readiness, we are providing customer service in person at various strategic locations. We hope this comprehensive support will make things more convenient for all visitors and help establish Mandalika’s success as one of Indonesia’s leading sport-tourism destinations,” Nugroho added.
For international visitors, Telkomsel offers international roaming through partnerships with operators in 191 countries, allowing them to stay connected conveniently and affordably while in Indonesia. The company’s presence at the international event in Mandalika is part of its commitment to maintaining a leading and extensive network while supporting the digital ecosystem, tourism and economic growth in West Nusa Tenggara and Indonesia.
