JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Head of the Military Audit Office II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya, has revealed the motive behind the acid-throwing attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS). “Regarding the motive, based on the examination report up to now, the motive carried out by the defendants is still a personal grudge against Mr A (the victim),” Andri stated at the Military Court II-08 on Thursday (16/4/2026). Meanwhile, further details on the personal grudge motive will be explained in more detail by the military prosecutor during the reading of the indictment. Furthermore, Andri also addressed the possibility of additional suspects emerging in the trial process. He explained that the case’s authority has now been handed over to the Military Court II-08 after the file was submitted by the audit office. “This is in accordance with the procedural law and SOP from the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia; we must still carry it out,” Andri said. In this case, four TNI BAIS soldiers are the defendants, namely Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetia, Lieutenant Sami Lakka, Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, and Sergeant Edi Sudarko. “For the indictment, we are charging subsidiarity or layered article charges; first, for the primary, we are applying Article 469 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years,” Andri revealed. As a subsidiary charge, Article 468 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter C is applied, with a maximum penalty of 8 years’ imprisonment. The acid-throwing incident against Andrie Yunus occurred on Thursday night (12/3/2026). The event began after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Menteng. Due to the throwing, Andrie screamed in pain and fell off his motorbike. Nearby residents then provided assistance, while the perpetrators fled towards Jalan Salemba Raya. The four TNI BAIS soldiers were subsequently secured in connection with suspected involvement in the incident, namely Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES. The case also led to the resignation of the TNI BAIS Chief, Yudi Abrimantyo, as a form of accountability amid public spotlight.
