Motive Behind Stabbing of Nus Kei Revealed, Suspected Due to Long-Standing Grudge

The motive for the stabbing that resulted in the death of Nus Kei, Chairman of the DPD Partai Golkar for Southeast Maluku, has been revealed and is suspected to stem from a long-standing grudge against the victim. “Preliminary investigation results indicate that the motive is revenge against the victim,” stated the Chief of Police of Southeast Maluku, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rian Suhendi, to reporters, as quoted on Monday, 20 April 2026. The two suspects are men with the initials HR (28) and FU (36). They are believed to have had issues with the victim while in Jakarta. The suspects have been detained and are undergoing intensive interrogation. Previously reported, a bloody incident shook Karel Sadsuitubun Airport in Southeast Maluku. Agrapinus Rumatora, alias Nus Kei, Chairman of the DPD Partai Golkar for Southeast Maluku, died after being attacked by unknown persons on Sunday, 19 April 2026. The incident occurred around 11:25 WIT, shortly after the victim arrived from Jakarta. The atmosphere at the airport, which was initially normal, suddenly turned tense when the stabbing took place abruptly. The Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner of Police Rositah Umasugi, revealed that the victim was attacked using a sharp weapon. “Suddenly, the victim was stabbed by an unknown person using a knife. The suspected perpetrators immediately fled after the incident,” said Rositah in her written statement.
