Mother Reveals Corporal Farizal Was Scheduled to Return in May

Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon fell while carrying out a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. Supinah, the mother of Corporal Farizal, revealed that her son’s tour of duty in Lebanon was actually about to end soon.

According to Supinah, her son had been deployed to Lebanon since April 2025. His tour was actually due to end in April. He was scheduled to return to Indonesia in May 2026.

“This April it ends, return in May. There was already a flight schedule, and I was sent it too,” said Supinah when met by reporters at the funeral home in Dusun Ledok, Lendah, Kulon Progo, on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

“He left in April last year. Right after a year, after Eid,” she continued.

Supinah recalled that during his service, including in Lebanon, the late Farizal routinely communicated with the family almost every day.

“Yes, every day, at night here, daytime there, every day video call, with me, with his father, then connected to the grandchild in Aceh,” she said.

She also revealed that in recent times, the situation at the duty location had become increasingly urgent. The late Farizal often had to enter a bunker when the siren sounded.

“Lately it’s a bit urgent, entering the bunker for hours at a time, then coming out when safe. He said when the siren goes off, must enter, that happens all the time,” she stated.

Supinah described her youngest child as someone who had always been known as a good and open person to his parents.

“Yes, he was good, he told us everything. Even when in Papua, in Lebanon, he told me, his father, everything, always via WhatsApp,” she said.

Farizal was the second of two siblings. Since high school, he had aspired to become a soldier.

Supinah said this was inspired by his uncle. So in 2016, after graduating, Farizal enlisted in the TNI in Yogyakarta and was then stationed in Aceh.

“Since high school, that was his dream. I told him to go to university, but he didn’t want to, he said he wanted to be like his uncle (in the TNI), yes, his father’s younger brother in Cirebon is on duty, he wanted to be like his uncle,” she said.
