The family of Radiet Adiansyah, also known as Radit, reacted hysterically upon hearing the verdict from the Mataram District Court panel of judges, which sentenced him to six years in prison. The defendant’s family refused to accept the decision and insisted that Radit was not guilty of causing the death of the victim, Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra.

Makkiyati, Radiet’s mother, reacted immediately after the panel of judges chaired by Mukhlassuddin read out the ruling. ‘My son is innocent, Sir,’ she shouted in the Mataram District Court courtroom on Wednesday (10/6/2026).

Police officers already on guard in the courtroom quickly secured the situation. Makkiyati was escorted out of the courtroom to ensure conditions remained conducive. ‘Radit is not guilty,’ she yelled loudly while pointing towards the judge.

According to Makkiyati, the injuries found on the victim’s genitals were not caused by Radit. ‘Vira had a prior injury on her genitals. Before she met my son, Vira already had an injury. So, she was not a virgin,’ she said while crying hysterically.

Outside the courtroom, Radit’s family grew increasingly hysterical. One of Radit’s relatives even appeared to faint. Makkiyati called everyone liars, labelling the prosecutors as murderers and cursing them. ‘They are liars, the Public Prosecutors are liars. I curse all of you. Those prosecutors are liars, murderers,’ she said.

Earlier, the panel of judges at Mataram District Court, chaired by Mukhlassuddin, had sentenced Radit to six years in prison. ‘Sentencing the defendant to imprisonment for six years,’ read the verdict by Chief Judge Mukhlassuddin on Wednesday (10/6/2026). The judge declared Radit proven to have abused the victim until death, in accordance with Article 466, paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. ‘Adjudicating, declares the defendant legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the criminal act of maltreatment causing death as stated in the second alternative charge of the public prosecutor,’ he stated.

The judge’s decision was far lighter than the prosecutors’ demand. Previously, prosecutors had requested that Radit be sentenced to 13 years in prison. Prosecutors demanded this by stating Radit was proven to have murdered his girlfriend, in accordance with Article 458, paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

It is known that the murder case occurred on Tuesday (26/8/2025) at Nipah Beach, Pemenang District, North Lombok, NTB. In this case, Radiet had initially claimed that he and Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra were victims of a robbery. However, based on the results of the police investigation, Radiet was named a suspect. The murder began when Radiet intended to rape the victim. However, the victim fought back, leading to a struggle between the victim and the perpetrator.
