Mother of Suspect in Boyfriend Murder Case in NTB Cries While Filing Report to Parliament
Makkiyati, the mother of Radiet Ardiansyah, a suspect in the murder case of Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra, a University of Mataram student and his girlfriend, was unable to hold back tears whilst speaking about her son’s predicament. The alleged murder took place in Mataram, NTB, in late August 2025.
Accompanied by prominent legal advocate Hotman Paris Hutapea, Makkiyati filed a complaint regarding irregularities in the case with Commission III of the House of Representatives on Thursday, 26 February.
“They said they were securing my son from the victim’s family, but instead my son was made a suspect,” Makkiyati said whilst holding back tears when recounting the initial designation of her son as a suspect.
However, Makkiyati stated that her son claimed he could still recognise the perpetrator’s face. Yet, this admission was not followed up by police during the investigation process.
“Instead, my son was accused of being the suspect. I beg you, I am a person with nothing, my son is not the perpetrator. To this very moment, my heart tells me Radiet is not the perpetrator,” Makkiyati said.
Hotman, meanwhile, is convinced that Radiet is a fellow victim in the case. When the victim was discovered on 26 August 2025, Radiet was found unconscious not far from the location with bruises and injuries covering his body and face.
According to Hotman, if Radiet were the murderer of his girlfriend, he would have fled.
“Raditya was found unconscious, just 100 metres from the location of the deceased. If he was the perpetrator, he would have run away, wouldn’t he?” he said.
Consequently, according to Hotman, there are errors in both the investigation and prosecution processes in this case. This is particularly evident given that Radiet was reportedly only suffered minor injuries in the police statement, yet when discovered his injuries appeared quite severe.
“This means something went wrong in the investigation and something also went wrong in the prosecution, in the indictment document by the prosecutor’s office,” Hotman said.
Habiburokhman, the chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, stated that his office would summon the Head of the Mataram State Prosecutor’s Office to provide an explanation regarding the case. Habib said that his office has the authority to oversee all forms of law enforcement implementation.
“We want to know how the laws that we have created are being implemented. We must not fail to provide justice to society,” he said.
