The mother of a student, identified by the initials SS, who was a victim of arson at the Rosyidatusshaulatiyyah Al Ibrahimy Islamic Boarding School in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, has written to President Prabowo Subianto. She is requesting that the President deploy his trusted officials to thoroughly investigate the arson case that killed her child. The letter was read aloud by the family’s legal counsel, Titi Tantry, during a hearing with Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 13 July 2026.

Titi initially revealed that a police officer had presented her client with a letter aimed at covering up the arson case, but her client refused to agree to the peace settlement. Reading from the client’s letter, Titi stated, “Mr President, a poor person like me does not know where else to turn, because the police and officials from the religious affairs department in Central Lombok are instead directing the boarding school to offer a peace letter to cover up this crime.” She continued, “I beg the President to please send your trusted people from Jakarta to investigate the police officers and local officials who are complicit in silencing the blood of my child.”

Titi demanded that the law be applied without discrimination in this case, even though one of the alleged suspects is the child of the boarding school’s owner. “Please ensure the law is blind, even if the perpetrator is the son of a religious teacher or the owner of the boarding school,” she explained. She stressed that a peace letter cannot buy her child’s life, stating, “My child’s life cannot be bought with a piece of peace paper.”

It was previously reported that three students at the boarding school were victims of arson committed by a fellow student. The incident resulted in the death of Sahril Sabirin, while two other victims, Sahid Alkudri and Ahmad Devan Ramdan, sustained injuries. The two surviving victims, along with their families and a legal team from Hotman Paris 911, visited Commission III of the DPR RI to seek justice. Legal counsel Putri Maya Rumanti stated that they received the report regarding the arson case in June 2026 and that the three victims had also been subjected to bullying by the perpetrator prior to the arson.
