Mother Arrested for Discarding Baby's Body in a Cardboard Box in Bogor
Bogor City Police have arrested the perpetrator responsible for discarding a baby found dead in a cardboard box in North Bogor. The perpetrator is the baby’s mother, identified by the initials SSA (21), and she has been named a suspect.
“Yes, it’s true. She was arrested within 24 hours, and we are currently deepening the investigation. It will be released on Monday,” said Bogor City Police Chief Commissioner Adjunct Senior Commissioner Rio Wahyu Anggoro on Friday (24/7/2026).
Contacted separately, Head of Public Relations for the Bogor City Police, First Inspector Imam, stated that the female perpetrator, SSA, is the baby’s mother. SSA was immediately named a suspect.
“Regarding the development of the case, a suspect has been named with the initials SSA, female, aged 21 years. SSA is the parent of the baby,” Imam said when contacted separately.
It was previously known that the body of a baby girl was found in a black bag placed inside a cardboard box on the side of a road in Ciparigi Village, North Bogor District, Bogor City, on Wednesday (23/7) evening. The body was discovered by a resident who was moving belongings and about to vacate a rented house.
Police investigated the discovery of the baby’s body in a cardboard box found on the roadside in the North Bogor area, Bogor City. Four witnesses were examined by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA).
“For now, there are four witnesses, we are waiting for updates from the PPA unit,” said Bogor City Police Head of Public Relations First Inspector Imam when contacted by detikcom on Wednesday (23/7/2026).
Imam stated that the four witnesses examined included the tenant of the rented house, identified as SU, SU’s stepchild SA, and SA’s husband IS. In addition, police questioned a woman identified as DR, a friend of SA who had been staying at the residence for a week.
According to Imam, the examination results revealed that the cardboard box containing the baby’s body was carried out of the house by witness SU while helping her child, who was about to move out of the rented house. The witness also told police that the door to the rented house was never locked.
“According to SU’s statement, the black bag was already inside the cardboard box that was taken from the rented room. According to SU’s statement, the door to the rented house was never locked,” Imam said.
