Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Motamasin State Border Crossing Post (PLBN) is ensuring full readiness to anticipate the surge in cross-border activity between Indonesia and Timor Leste during the Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah period and ahead of the 2026 Easter celebrations.

The Head of PLBN Motamasin, Engelberthus Klau, stated that the PLBN Motamasin Readiness Command Post in Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has officially been operational since 17 March until 4 April 2026.

The operation of the command post involves elements of CIQS personnel (Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Security) as a form of strengthening cross-agency coordination in facing the increased mobility of people and goods.

“To anticipate the increase in crossing traffic during Idul Fitri and Easter 2026, we are opening the PLBN Motamasin Readiness Command Post together with all CIQS elements. The development of crossing traffic will be monitored and updated daily,” said Engelberthus in his statement in Jakarta on Friday.

He explained that there are adjustments to the operational hours of crossing services on certain dates. On Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah, PLBN Motamasin services will open from 13:00 to 17:00 WITA.

In addition to crossing services, PLBN Motamasin will also continue to provide access for tourist visits to the public during the period from 20 March to 4 April 2026.

He hopes that this policy can support the social and economic activities of border communities without neglecting aspects of security and comfort.

“With the presence of the command post and the agreed service hour arrangements, we hope that all crossing processes can proceed in an orderly, smooth manner, and still prioritise public comfort,” he said.

He emphasised that solid coordination between agencies is the main key in anticipating the surge in cross-border activities during Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah and Easter 2026.

With the readiness of personnel, he said, strengthened cross-agency coordination, and adaptive service arrangements, the Indonesian National Border Management Agency (BNPP) is committed through PLBN Motamasin to ensure that cross-border services between Indonesia and Timor Leste during this year’s Idul Fitri and Easter provide a sense of security and comfort for communities in the border area.
