The Motaain State Border Crossing Post (PLBN), managed by the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of Indonesia, held an affordable market operation to assist border communities in meeting their staple needs at affordable prices in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Tuesday (14/4/2026). During the event, PLBN Motaain distributed 5kg packages of rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) at Rp60,000 per sack. A total of 9 tons of rice was provided, and it was fully absorbed by the community who crowded the location from the morning. Head of PLBN Motaain, Maria Fatima Rika, stated that the affordable market operation represents the state’s presence in maintaining price stability and ensuring food availability for communities in border areas. According to her, the high enthusiasm of the residents indicates that the need for affordable staples remains very significant. “This affordable market operation is one of the concrete steps by the government through BNPP in maintaining price stability and ensuring food availability for border communities. We are grateful that all the provided rice, amounting to 9 tons, was well absorbed,” said Rika in a press release received by Kompas.com on Thursday (16/4/2026). For information, at the same time in the PLBN Motaain area, a human resource capacity-building activity for micro-entrepreneurs in the ikat weaving sector was also held, organised by the Assistant Deputy for Land Border Area Potential (PKPD) of BNPP RI. Through various such programmes, PLBN Motaain affirms its role not only as a state gateway but also as a centre for services and a driver of border community welfare, in line with the government’s commitment to strengthening development from the fringes.
