Most job seekers unskilled

TANGERANG, West Java (JP): Most job seekers in Tangerang do not meet the requirements for industrial job opportunities, an official says.

The head of the Tangerang Regency Manpower Ministry office, Engkos Kosim, said yesterday that there were a total of 29,234 job seekers in Tangerang, but that only 13,810 of them had found jobs in the first four months of this year.

"This means 15,424 people are still jobless," Engkos told The Jakarta Post, adding that 11,837 of them were senior high school graduates and that 1,045 of them held university diplomas.

The others are 1,343 elementary school graduates, 893 junior high school graduates and 306 diploma graduates.

According to Engkos, 2,380 of the job opportunities offered by the industrial sector went to elementary school graduates, 2,985 to junior high school graduates, 10,717 to senior high school graduates, 183 for diploma graduates, and 300 for university graduates. (18/sur)
