Most blind lack education

SEMARANG: More than 188,000 blind children across the country who are of school age have not yet acquired formal education, Director General of Elementary and Intermediate Education Achmad D.S. said on Wednesday.

"From a total of 191,793 blind children in the country, only 1.8 percent of them can go to special schools," Achmad said.

"We hope to build more special schools for blind people and hold more training for teachers who deal with them this fiscal year," he said. (har/edt)
