Mosque Collapses After 6-Metre Cliff Eroded by Cikaret River Overflow in Bogor City
A landslide occurred in Pasir Jaya Ward, West Bogor Subdistrict. The incident caused the Nurul Hikmah Mosque building to collapse, swept away by the strong currents of the Cikaret River,” said the Head of the Bogor City BPBD, Dimas Tiko Prahafi Sasongko, on Sunday night (3/5/2026). Dimas stated that the landslide was a result of the Cikaret River overflowing due to heavy rain and was reported by local residents at 18:50 WIB. The landslide also threatened one resident’s home, and its occupants were evacuated. “The cause of the landslide was heavy rain and unstable soil, leading to further collapse, combined with the strong currents of the Cikaret River. The landslide width is approximately 10 metres and height approximately 6 metres,” said Dimas Tiko. “There is a resident’s home that was affected, its condition is concerning as it was also hit by the landslide. The occupants of the affected home are temporarily sheltering with their sibling and parents,” he continued. Flooding Triggered by Blocked River Flow from Fallen Tree Heavy rain also caused a tree to fall, blocking the flow of the Cimanglid River in Babakan Sumantri Hamlet, Pasir Kuda Ward, Bogor City. This incident caused the Cimanglid River to overflow and flood six residents’ homes. “A bamboo tree fell into the Cimanglid River and blocked the river flow, causing overflow into several residents’ homes. Six residents’ homes were inundated by the overflowing water,” said Dimas. Dimas stated that the flooding did not last long and receded when the rain stopped. Residents were assisted by BPBD personnel in cleaning up the mud from the flood. “Assessment and cutting of the fallen tree have been completed. The flooding caused by the fallen tree has begun to recede. Residents are being assisted by personnel in cleaning their respective homes,” he added.
