Morowali Regency to Open Second Phase of Scholarship Registration at End of July

The Morowali Regency Government, Central Sulawesi, is preparing to open the second phase of registration for the Morowali Scholarship from the end of July to September 2026, prioritising new university students. “God willing, from the end of July to September we will open registration via the application. This second phase is specifically for new students,” said Head of the Morowali Education Office, Arifin Lakane, on Thursday. He stated that registration will be conducted through the Morowali Scholarship application, as in the previous phase. The Morowali Scholarship programme is one of the regency government’s flagship initiatives to help finance education for local students while improving the quality of human resources. The regency government has established cooperation with several companies, including IMIP, Vale, and Hengjaya, in distributing the scholarships and has coordinated with the Directorate General of Higher Education at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to ensure the education assistance does not overlap. “The rule is that you cannot receive double scholarships, whether from the central government, provincial government, or other institutions. That is the applicable provision,” he said. Arifin therefore urged prospective applicants to ensure they only participate in one scholarship programme to avoid violating the regulations. The Education Office recorded that 3,727 students were recipients of the first phase of the Morowali Scholarship in 2026 after passing the administrative verification process.
