Moroccans denied entry into Medan

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Local immigration officials have blocked the entry of 10 Moroccan nationals who tried to enter the country via Belawan seaport aboard the Express Bahagia I ferry from Penang port in Malaysia on Wednesday.

Immigration official Imam Soeprapto said they did not possess a visa to enter the country and were ferried back to Penang, Malaysia on Thursday.

Immigration officials have been intensifying checks in the past few months due to increasing cases of immigration violations in the past four months.

"We (immigration officials) have to be selective to monitor the arrival of foreign visitors," he said as quoted by Antara.(emf)
