JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The rupiah exchange rate in the spot market strengthened at the opening of trading on Wednesday (6/5/2026). The Garuda currency rose 0.24% to the level of Rp 17,383 per US dollar. Previously, the rupiah was at Rp 17,424 per US dollar at the close of trading on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the South Korean won became the Asian currency with the largest strengthening, surging 0.76%. In the next position is the Malaysian ringgit, which also appreciated by 0.26%. Meanwhile, the Thai baht strengthened by 0.24%, and the Singapore dollar rose by 0.16%. The Japanese yen was also recorded to rise by 0.12% against the US dollar. The Hong Kong dollar was seen to strengthen slightly, or 0.004%, against the greenback in this morning’s trading. On the other hand, the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) also strengthened in Wednesday morning’s trading. The index rose 37.122 points or 0.53% to the level of 7,094.228. The IHSG opened at 7,086.340 and briefly touched the highest area at 7,117.192. Meanwhile, the lowest figure was at 7,049.920. The strengthening of the index was also supported by the dominance of stocks in the green zone. It was recorded that 313 stocks strengthened, while 237 stocks weakened and 176 stocks moved stagnant. Trading activity was monitored to be quite busy with a transaction volume reaching 10.540 billion shares. The transaction value was Rp 4.825 trillion with a trading frequency touching 635,336 transactions.
