More unrest flares in Poso
INDONESIA: Only a few days after a bomb explosion marred the Idul Fitri celebration on Wednesday, fresh violence erupted again in Poso, Central Sulawesi, on Saturday night.
According to Antara, Hinson, 36, was killed in the incident while I Ketut Sutarna, 46, was in a critical condition after being seriously wounded during the clash in Kilo Trans village, Poso Pesisir district. Few others were also injured.
The news agency did not disclose the details of the violence.
Sectarian clashes between Muslims and Christians flared up in the regency from 1991 to 2001. Despite the official peace accord between the two conflicting parties in December 2001, the situation in the regency remains volatile. -- Antara
