The Bandung Great Sale (BGS) 2026 recorded high public enthusiasm during its three-day run from 21 to 23 August 2026. Based on preliminary data from visitors entering through the barcode system, nearly 8,000 people were recorded attending BGS 2026 held at Laswi Heritage.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the figure will continue to be calculated because one barcode can be used by more than one person. The Bandung City Government is still calculating to determine the number of visitors more accurately as well as the number of transactions that occurred.

“Alhamdulillah, the Bandung Great Sale, from the QRIS count and also the barcode count, those who entered over approximately three days reached nearly 8,000,” he said on Monday (24/8).

According to Farhan, the actual number of visitors could potentially be larger. This is because one person who scans a barcode can come with two to three other people. “When they enter with a barcode, they can bring two or three people. We are still calculating the multiplication now. I hope at least 15,000 people can enter,” he explained.

In addition to the number of visitors, Farhan said the Bandung City Government is also calculating the number of transactions and the economic impact generated from the implementation of BGS 2026. His office is still waiting for transaction reports from Bank bjb as one of the bases for calculation. The main target of BGS 2026 is not merely to attract visitors, but to create economic turnover through transactions at various participating shopping centres.

“We hope the economic turnover can reach around Rp1 to Rp1.5 billion in just three days of BGS across all malls,” he stated.

Farhan assessed that the achievement shows a positive public response to the new concept of BGS 2026. Besides presenting business actors with various brands and products, the event also involved communities and offered a diverse range of culinary options.

“These three days have been very good. This is a new BGS concept. For me, this is excellent because it not only presents entrepreneurs with their respective product brands, but also presents communities who are also selling and offering very complete culinary options,” he concluded.

Farhan said the concept makes BGS one of the events that represents the character of Bandung City. The implementation of BGS is part of the Bandung Shopping Month series which runs until 31 August 2026. Thus, promotional activities and shopping have actually been taking place for almost two months, from July to August.

“I am also looking forward to the implementation of Bandung Fair as one of the follow-up agendas to drive economic and tourism activity in Bandung City. We will see again in September and October what other programmes we can have. I very much hope Bandung Fair can proceed,” he said.

In addition to Bandung Fair, Farhan continued, the Bandung City Government is also submitting a number of proposals to private parties to support the organisation of music festivals in Bandung City. However, to date only one proposal has received sponsor approval. Other festival plans are still awaiting sponsor support. The Bandung City Government hopes private sector support can enrich the city’s calendar of events while maintaining economic momentum through the organisation of various festivals.
