Moscow (ANTARA) – More than 60 people remain missing following a train collision in central Spain, El País reported on Thursday, citing the Spanish Civil Guard.

According to the report, the Civil Guard had received 64 missing-person reports after the fatal accident in Toledo province, from families who had lost contact with relatives.

Local authorities have also launched a dedicated service to handle requests for information.

At least 42 foreign nationals were on board the train, Europa Press reported, citing Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

One Argentine national was reported dead, while 10 others were uninjured and six suffered injuries. Another 24 people were still listed as missing, the media outlet said.

Two passenger trains collided in Spain’s Toledo province on Wednesday (28 October) because of a computer fault that caused the safety system to fail.

According to local authorities, nearly 70 people were killed, and the government declared three days of national mourning.
