More than 5,000 Passengers at Ngurah Rai Airport Affected by Middle East-Bound Flights

More than 5,000 passengers and 35 international flights at Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali were affected by the closure of airspace in the Middle East region through Wednesday, 4 March 2026 at 15:00 WITA.

According to the airport’s operational data, of the 35 affected flights, 20 were outbound and 15 inbound. All flights were cancelled by the respective airlines. Affected carriers include Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways on the Denpasar (DPS) to Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), and Doha (DOH) routes, as well as returning services.

Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of the Communication and Legal Division of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, said that overall flight operations and airport services continue to run normally and optimally. “However, we can state that flight operations and airport services at Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali, in general, continue to operate normally and optimally,” he said on Wednesday (4 March 2026).

The airport continues to monitor the airspace situation in the Middle East region, coordinate with airlines for schedule updates and passenger handling, work with AirNav Indonesia to monitor the affected airspace, and coordinate with security authorities at the airport.

The airport has anticipated parking stand needs for five aircraft from three airlines affected by the flight cancellations. “Ngurah Rai International Airport has also prepared plans to arrange parking stands for aircraft from flights affected, allocating parking for five aircraft from three affected airlines,” Sandi explained.

To assist passengers, the airport provides a dedicated airline help desk area and coordinates with the Immigration Office to provide Emergency Stay Permits (ITKT) for affected passengers, located on Level 2 of the International Departures Terminal.

Management also provides complimentary snacks and beverages daily for affected passengers, and a contact centre is available at 172 for the latest information. Management also urges prospective travellers to stay in touch with their airlines for updated flight information.
