More than 3,000 foreigners dead in Asian tsunamis

Three and a half weeks after the Indian Ocean tsunamis, more
than 3,000 foreigners were on Tuesday listed as either dead or
missing.

The confirmed death toll of 423 was expected to go up as new
identifications were completed and the thousands of still missing
persons were declared dead.

The following is a country-by-country breakdown of confirmed
casualties -- not including nationals from the affected region.
Close to 175,000 people from an 11-country swath from Indonesia to
Somalia died following the catastrophe.

The overall figure of missing people is approximate, with some
authorities listing all those who had failed to make contact, and
others listing only those specifically reported as having
disappeared.

For countries which provide separate lists of the missing and
unaccounted for, only the number of missing is used.

Several countries have not released the number of people
missing across the region, but their numbers are believed to
reach into the hundreds. -- AFP
