More students join research contest

JAKARTA: The Youth Research Competition organizing committee received 1,021 research papers this year, almost three times higher than scientific works submitted by participants last year.

Head of the panel of jury Mien Ahmad Rifai hailed the standard of this year's competition because most of the papers were well-written in accordance with scientific principles and raised interesting issues.

Only 33 papers from students in 13 provinces qualified for the final.

She said the standard of the event was not affected by the fact that most of the studies dealt with agriculture and health.

The organizers said Lampung, North Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi were not represented in the competition. -- Antara
