More state killing needed

Every time I take a Metro Mini bus, I am overwhelmed with
worry because I have often read that Metro Mini bus passengers
are often robbed at knife-point.

On Aug. 22, I took the Metro Mini 66 from Manggarai to Blok M,
and saw firsthand what I had been reading about in the papers.

When the bus got to the Jl. Gatot Subroto crossroad, three
young men with mean-looking faces got on the bus. Their arms
showed the track marks of years of drug use.

Two of them entered from the front and the other one from the
rear. With booming voices, they forced the passengers to give
them from between Rp 2,000 and Rp 5,000, saying, "Give us the
money and you won't get hurt."

Intimidated, nearly all of the passengers complied. Then, in a
flash, the three of them got off the bus.

In view of this incident, allow me to call on all the police
to take tough action against thugs. If possible, mysterious
shooters must be assigned to eliminate them.
