More Solemn Eid Prayers: Batam Prepares 1,020 Locations for Idulfitri Prayers
The Batam city government has prepared 1,020 locations for the Idul Fitri prayers in 1447 Hijriah, or 2026, to ensure that the community can worship more comfortably and with greater devotion. These thousands of points are spread throughout the city, from densely populated areas to residential neighbourhoods. This step is taken to anticipate the increasing number of worshippers each year during Eid al-Fitr. Based on the collected data, 943 points are in mosques, 42 in prayer halls, and 35 others in open fields or mosque courtyards. This distribution is deemed sufficient to accommodate the high enthusiasm of the community in performing the Id prayer. The Head of Islamic Guidance at the Batam City Ministry of Religious Affairs, Adamrin, stated that the determination of Id prayer locations has been carried out through mapping the needs of worshippers in each sub-district. “We have arranged the distribution of prayer locations evenly to prevent the accumulation of worshippers in one place,” he said on Friday (20/3). He also urged the community to choose the nearest prayer location from their residence to reduce density and facilitate mobility. In addition, worshippers are expected to maintain order during the worship to keep the atmosphere conducive and devoted. Areas such as Batam Kota, Sagulung, Batuaji, to Nongsa receive special attention because they often become centres of worshipper concentration every year. Therefore, the provision of worship facilities in those areas has been strengthened. Besides mosques, several strategic points are also prepared in residential areas and public fields. One of them is in Bida Garden Housing, Belian Ward, which is estimated to accommodate a large number of worshippers due to its easy accessibility. The provision of many points not only aims to accommodate worshippers but also to ease congestion. Thus, the worship can proceed more orderly without disruptions due to overflowing worshippers in one location. Various technical preparations have also been carried out, from arranging prayer areas, installing sound systems, to regulating entry and exit routes for worshippers. Coordination with security apparatus has been strengthened. Officers will be deployed at several points to maintain order, assist with parking arrangements, and anticipate potential disruptions during the Id prayer. The community is urged to arrive early at the designated prayer locations, maintain environmental cleanliness, and comply with the committee’s instructions for smooth proceedings. With thorough preparations from the government and community support, the Idul Fitri prayers in Batam in 2026 are expected to run smoothly, safely, and full of devotion, while strengthening togetherness on the day of victory.
