More roads converted into one-way zones
JAKARTA (JP): The city administration has decided to convert a number of roads in East, West and South Jakarta into one-way streets in order to alleviate traffic congestion across the city.
The decision was made by the Municipal Traffic and Transportation Consultative Body during a meeting late last week.
The newly designated one-way zones in East Jakarta include Jl. Tambra I, Jl. Tambra III, Jl. Tambra II, Jl. Tambra Raya, Jl. Bawal Raya and Jl. Sunan Sedayu. The new road directions were effective as of July 1, 1994.
In West Jakarta, Jl. Kebon Jeruk 5 and Jl. Kebon Jeruk 7 are now one-way streets from Jl. Hayam Wuruk to Jl. Kebon Jeruk 9.
Jl. Kebon Jeruk 3 and Jl. Kebon Jeruk 6 will become one-way streets with traffic to move in the direction of Jl. Hayam Wuruk.
In South Jakarta, Jl. Darmawangsa 3 will become one-way, with traffic moving to the south.
Jl. Panglima Polim, from the Jl. Darmawangsa-Jl. Petogogan intersection up to the Jl. Darmawangsa 13 intersection, will now accommodate two-way traffic.
The changes in direction of traffic flow on the streets in West Jakarta and South Jakarta will take effect on July 8, 1994. (mds)
