More pork for Chinese new year

JAKARTA (JP): The City Animal Husbandry Agency is providing at least 4,500 pigs to fulfill the demand for pork during the Chinese New Year celebration on Jan. 24.

The pigs were brought in from Central Java, Yogyakarta, Lampung and North Sumatra.

The supply rose by 500 compared to last year.

A festive atmosphere has been observed across the capital as the celebration nears. Many people prepare special food for the new year, mostly pork dishes.

To confirm quality, the agency will monitor the distribution of the meat at the Kapuk packing house in North Jakarta, traditional markets and supermarkets across the city.(07)
