More parties file complaints with court

JAKARTA: More political parties and candidates of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) filed complaints with the Constitutional Court on Thursday over the results of the legislative election announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Wednesday.

By 6 p.m. on Thursday, the court had registered complaints from the Prosperous Justice Party (PDS), the New Indonesia Alliance Party (PPIB) and the Democratic Party as well as DPD candidates Kemala Motik from Jakarta, Steven Kusumanegara from South Sumatra and Jufri Liputo from Gorontalo.

Some of the complaints, however, were rejected for administrative reasons, including lack of evidence.

Constitutional Court chief Jimly Asshidiqie said on Thursday that the court would accept complaints only until 1:55 p.m. on Saturday. -- JP
