More Padel Courts Sealed in Jakarta Over Licensing Issues
Padel courts are proliferating across various locations in Jakarta City, prompting municipal authorities to begin sealing facilities due to licensing problems.
The latest sealed facility is located in Kembangan, West Jakarta. The padel court was sealed because the owner has not completed the required building permit documentation.
“In the Building Approval Process (PBG), there are requirements that have not been fulfilled and have not been addressed to date, so we are maintaining the seal on this building,” said West Jakarta City Administrator Iin Mutmainnah, as reported by Antara on Monday, 2 March 2026.
The sealing of the padel facility located on Jalan Puri Ayu, RW 02, Kembangan, was marked by installation of a sealing banner and yellow lines by the Directorate of Building Creation, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (CKTRP) of West Jakarta. The sealing banner was affixed to the exterior of the building, specifically at the building entrance as a public information notice.
The CKTRP line was installed inside the building to ensure there was no violation of the designated area boundaries.
“We have also directly informed the management of MMT Padel that they are not permitted to conduct any activities,” Iin stated firmly.
The authorities checked the upper part of the building to ensure no activities were taking place there.
“Earlier we checked the upper section and ensured that no activities would be permitted. There we saw the padel area already had CKTRP lines installed, as well as the café area and its fixtures. For this reason, we are requesting that all activities within this building cease,” Iin said.
Meanwhile, MMT Padel’s General Manager Doris stated that the facility had been processing licensing documentation since 2025. However, there were obstacles with several document sections requiring revision.
“There have indeed been obstacles as several sections still require revision to the licensing documentation since 2025, specifically in June 2025,” Doris said.
Padel Court in Pulomas, East Jakarta Also Sealed
Additionally, a padel court in the Pulomas area, Kayu Putih Subdistrict, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta, has been permanently sealed.
This action was taken due to discovered discrepancies in building permits and the facility’s lack of a Certificate of Functional Compliance (SLF). Wiwit explained that two enforcement actions were taken against the building.
“We have carried out re-sealing. Previously we had sealed it. Second, we issued a warning letter to implement permanent sealing of this building,” said Head of the Directorate of Building Creation, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (DCKTRP) of East Jakarta Wiwit Djalu Adji, as reported by Antara on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
“So today we are taking two enforcement actions on the padel court in the Pulomas area, Kayu Putih, Pulogadung, East Jakarta. First, enforcement action against permit discrepancies. There are several sections that do not conform to the permit,” he added.
The East Jakarta City Administration gave the facility one day to vacate the area and remove valuable items before the permanent sealing was implemented.
“To respect the owner’s rights, valuable items inside could be removed so we gave them one day to conduct cleaning inside. Tomorrow we will proceed with permanent sealing,” Wiwit said.
During enforcement, officials installed a notification banner marking that the building would be permanently sealed. The banner installation simultaneously served as public notice that padel court operations were temporarily halted.
The banner read: ‘This building is subject to permanent closure (sealed)’. It also listed that the padel court violated Law Number 6 of 2023, Government Regulation Number 16 of 2021, and/or Government Regulation Number 21 of 2021.
Wiwit mentioned that a Warning Letter for Violation (SPP) had been previously issued for building non-compliance.
“That SPP, I forget the date. But it was for building non-compliance. There are parts of the building that do not conform inside. There is an area that was constructed that should not have been constructed,” he said.
