More int'l flights to Lombok

JAKARTA (JP): A Darwin-based Australian airline, National Jet System (NJS), will start flying to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Oct. 5 by operating BAE 146 aircraft.

Lombok will be a stopover on the Singapore-Christmas Island- Jakarta-Lombok-Darwin route served by NJS Australia, West Nusa Tenggara administration spokesman, Tjok Suthendra Rai, said after accompanying NJS executive George Marion in a meeting in Mataram yesterday with Governor Warsito.

So far, SilkAir of Singapore is the only overseas airline serving Lombok's Selaparang airport, Antara quoted Suthendra as saying.

He said that in addition to NJS and SilkAir, Ansett of Australia and Merpati Nusantara Airlines of Indonesia are expected to soon serve Mataram-Perth and Mataram-Darwin routes, respectively. (icn)
