JAKARTA: The City Council elected on Saturday 12 members of the subdistrict councils (Dekot) for East Jakarta and the new Kepulauan Seribu regency in a plenary session.
East Jakarta now has 10 elected members of Dekot -- Ridar Handoko from Kebon Manggis subdistrict, M. Fauzi Sarmada from Bidaracina, Nurhadi Puwosaputro from Pondok Kelapa, Noor Azis Tonda from Pulogadung, Sulyo from Penggilingan, Andi Effendi Nur from Cililitan, Eka Agus Riyanti from Makassar, Zaini Zamin from Ciracas, Suyudi from Kalisari and Salam Loganta Manik from Lubang Buaya.
The two other members elected on Saturday to represent Kepulauan Seribu were Ishak Syah and Mukti Ali.
Earlier on Thursday and Friday, the City Council elected Dekot members for the municipalities of West Jakarta, South Jakarta, North Jakarta and Central Jakarta.
City Council speaker Agung Imam Sumanto said on Sunday it would be no problem if those elected members of Dekot were representatives of political groupings as long as they were not directly nominated by their parties. --Antara
