More busway corridors prepared

JAKARTA: Jakarta will start the construction of two more
busway corridors this year. These will stretch from Pulogadung,
East Jakarta, to Harmoni, Central Jakarta, and from Harmoni to
Kali Deres, West Jakarta.

Governor Sutiyoso said the corridors were expected to be
operational next year.

"The new corridors are in line with our expert team's
recommendation," he said, adding that the administration was
still looking for a funding source.

The administration allocated Rp 120 billion (US$13.9 million)
this year to procure more buses and contruct canopies over busway
shelter ramps along the Blok M-Kota busway corridor.

Deputy Governor Fauzi Bowo is scheduled to have a meeting with
the City Council soon to ask for input from councillors over the
