More bomb threats on horizon
Is the idiom "Things could be worse" still valid? Luckily nobody was hurt in the recent afternoon bomb explosion at kilometer 85.5 between Cikampek and Tanjung Rasa railway stations and only the schedules of 19 trains were disrupted.
Although no trains were damaged in the blast, the explosion itself was devastating.
Just imagine the fear and concern of train passengers and their families.
With a heavy heart, we ask the questions: Has the season of bomb threats, bomb planting and bomb explosions arrived again? Is violence becoming a distinctive feature of our lives to which we should become accustomed?
But how can one get used to explosions, violent acts and threats of violence? In reality, over the past few years we have experienced bomb explosions, violent acts and threats of violence, which not only upset and threaten lives and property, they also shake up and undermine basic social and economic foundations.
Local and foreign businesspeople all have the same concerns about operating in this country.
Since the reform era and changes of presidents, the lack of security and uncertainty faced by the people have reached alarming levels, and the government should give the matter top priority.
People become disheartened when aspirations are ignored and shared responsibility is shunned. What can be seen and felt is utter disorderliness for which there has been no attempt to control.
We feel more discouraged as the tendencies are not decreasing, but, on the contrary, are becoming more widespread.
The condition of Indonesia today is extremely limited when viewed from available funds and capital.
If not addressed quickly, won't such a situation be responded to with further violence and radical attitudes?
